President's Update - January 17th, 2020

We have four games on Friday evening. There are three interlocking games and they all begin at 8:30 p.m. Balcarres is in Lumsden, Bethune is in Balgonie and Raymore is in Odessa. We also have a game in Strasbourg where the Maroons host the Southey Marlins. On Saturday evening there are three interlocking games. Grenfell will be in Bethune to play the Bulldogs, Strasbourg visits Milestone and Balgonie will be in Southey. There is one interlocking game left and that will be next Friday in Odessa when the Bruins meet the Strasbourg Maroons.

President's Update - January 7th, 2020

First place Raymore Rockets split with top two teams from QVHL....This past Friday evening saw the Raymore Rockets host the Milestone Flyers. Logan Gorsalitz scored a shorthanded goal in the first period and the Flyers led going into the second period. A goal by Ryley Storzuk ties the game in the second period. Brayden Cockwill would score twice in the period for Milestone and the Flyers led 3-1 after two periods. KC Brooks, Cody Hegion and Ian Williams would score in the third period to make the final 6-2 for the Flyers.  Tyrell Shulko scored the other Raymore goal.

President's Update - January 1st, 2020

Here is hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas and to all welcome to the final year the second decade of the 21st century....2020. We finished our first weekend of interlocking play the weekend before Christmas. The Highway league went 4-5-1 against their QVHL counterparts and we have a lot more interlocking play beginning this weekend. There are twenty more interlocking games that will be played in January. Rosters were finalized on December 31st although locals can still be added up to January 10th.

President's Update December 16th, 2019

The Lumsden Monarchs and Bethune Bulldogs are starting to make a little noise after each posting two victories on the weekend....The Monarchs had a 14-4 victory over the Strasbourg Maroons and a 9-3 victory over the Raymore Rockets. On Friday evening in Lumsden Kyle Johnson scored four times to lead the Monarchs in their victory over the Maroons. Defenceman Andrew Perrault had a hat trick and Keenan Lutz scored twice. Also scoring for Lumsden were Jesse Matlock, Brady Aulie, Dale Spelchen, Owen Schnell and Braeden Adamyk. All goals were at full strength.

President's Update December 11th, 2019

The Raymore Rockets continue to roll picking up their seventh straight win with a 12-1 victory over the Strasbourg Maroons on Friday evening. Ryley Storzuk led the way with a hat trick. Tyrell Shulko and Josh Jordan both scored twice. Cory Kosloski, Damien Bentz, Jeff Hubic, Tyler Bell and Michael Jordan with the only power play goal of the game scored the rest of the Raymore goals. Mike Arnold scored the lone goal for the Maroons. Dean Brothen picked up his third win of the year in the Raymore net. Therien Ballantine was in net for the Maroons.

President's Update December 4th, 2019

The Raymore Rockets lead the Highway Hockey League standings with a record of 6-0-0. They have scored the most goals, allowed the least goals against, their power play is clicking at a 40% success rate and their penalty kill is successful 94% of the time. This past weekend they defeated the Bethune Bulldogs 9-0 in Raymore and they defeated the Southey Marlins 8-2 in Southey. Goalie Dean Brothen has returned to the fold and now leads the league with a 1.00 GAA after winning both games on the weekend. Damien Bentz continues to lead the scoring race with 10 goals and 6 assists.

President's Update November 26th, 2019

Rockets take two at home and are first place...The Raymore Rockets defeated the Bethune Bulldogs 7-0 on Friday evening and defeated the Lumsden Monarchs 3-1 on Saturday evening to go to 4-0-0 for the season and take over sole possession of first place. On Friday evening in Raymore the Rockets built up a 3-0 lead going into the last period and scored four in the third. Damien Bentz and Michael Jordan each had a hat trick in this game. Tyrell Shulko also scored. Kevin Orthner stopped 12 shots in the shutout and Ryan Holfield stopped 39 shots in the Bethune net.

President's Update November 18th, 2019

Bulldogs and Rockets both win twice this past weekend....The Bethune Bulldogs defeated our reigning champions 4-3 in a shoot out in Lumsden on Friday evening. Dale Spelchen scored the only goal of the first period and the Monarchs had a 1-0 lead. In the second period. Landon Fahlman scored late in the period to tie the game 1-1 but before the end of the period Dale Spelchen would score his second goal and then with nine seconds left in the period Brett Mennear would score for the Bulldogs and it was 2-2 heading into the third period.

President's Update November 10th, 2019

The Lumsden Monarchs began defence of their crown with a 5-2 victory on Friday evening in Lumsden. The first period saw the Marlins get into a lot of penalty trouble. The Monarchs went two for five on the power play getting goals from Kyle Johnson and Andrew Perrault. The Marlins got a goal from Colby Brandt and it was 2-1 for Lumsden after one period. There were 48 minutes of penalties in the first period and the Monarchs outshot the Marlins 20-9. It was a very busy period ffor goalie Landin Moldenhauer.
