President's Update - January 1st, 2020

Here is hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas and to all welcome to the final year the second decade of the 21st century....2020. We finished our first weekend of interlocking play the weekend before Christmas. The Highway league went 4-5-1 against their QVHL counterparts and we have a lot more interlocking play beginning this weekend. There are twenty more interlocking games that will be played in January. Rosters were finalized on December 31st although locals can still be added up to January 10th.
On Friday evening the Bethune Bulldogs (7-4-0) will be in Balcarres to play the Broncs (QV 5-4-0) at 8 p.m. and the Lumsden Monarchs (5-3-2) will be in Balgonie to play the Bison (QV 3-6-0) at 8:30 p.m. Also on Friday evening the Milestone Flyers (QV 7-1-0) will be in Raymore to play the Rockets (9-1-0) and the Strasbourg Maroons (0-9-0) will be in Southey to play the Marlins (3-7-0) at 8 p.m. On Saturday evening the Raymore Rockets will be in Grenfell to play the Spitfirss (QV9-0-0), the Southey Marlins will be in Milestone to play the Flyers at 8:00 p.m., the Balgonie Broncs will play the their second game against the Strasbourg Maroons in Strasbourg at 8:00 p.m. and the Odessa/Vibank Bruins (QV 0-11-0) will be in Lumsden to play the Monarchs at 8:30 p.m.
Damien Bentz from the Rockets continues to lead the scoring race with 14 goals and 10 assists. Tyler Mueller from the Rockets is second with 22 points. Two more Rockets occupy third and fourth place with Josh Jordan at 21 points and Tyrell Shulko with 20 points. Kyle Johnson from the Monarchs rounds out the top five with 19 points. Dean Brothen from the Rockets leads all goalies with a 2.47 GAA. Kevin Orther from the Rockets leads all goalies with five wins.Landin Moldenhauer from the Marlins leads all goalies with 367.3 minutes played. The Raymore Rockets have the top powerplay unit which is running at a 39.1% success rate. They also have the top penalty killing unit showing a 94.4% success rate. The Raymore Rockets and Lumsden Monarchs are the only teams with a shorthanded goal and the Southey Marlins are the only team that have allowed one.
