President's Update November 10th, 2019

The Lumsden Monarchs began defence of their crown with a 5-2 victory on Friday evening in Lumsden. The first period saw the Marlins get into a lot of penalty trouble. The Monarchs went two for five on the power play getting goals from Kyle Johnson and Andrew Perrault. The Marlins got a goal from Colby Brandt and it was 2-1 for Lumsden after one period. There were 48 minutes of penalties in the first period and the Monarchs outshot the Marlins 20-9. It was a very busy period ffor goalie Landin Moldenhauer. The second period w saw the Marlins come to life as the Monarchs had three penalties and Riley Mohr notched a power play goal. Lumsden scored twice getting a goal early in the period from Matt McKinnon and they also got a shorthanded goal from Brady Aulie. The Marlins outshot the Monarchs 17-8 in the frame and this was a very busy period for goalie Will Hood. In the third period the Monarchs scored the only goal off the stick of Owen Schnell. The Monarchs outshot the Marlins 17-10 in the final frame. Final shots were 45-36 for the Monarchs.
This weekend we have the Bethune Bulldogs opening up their season on Friday evening in Lumsden at 8:30 p.m. The Raymore Rockets and the Strasbourg Maroons start their season in Strasbourg Friday evening. The Maroons will retire Mark Cross jersey in a ceremony prior to start of game. On Saturday evening the Southey Marlins have their home opener against the Raymore Rockets. The Bethune Bulldogs will have their home opener against the Strasbourg Maroons.
