President's Update - December 3rd, 2017

Monarchs defeat Maroons.... The Lumsden Monarchs maintained first place in the HHL with a 6-1 victory over the Strasbourg Maroons on Saturday evening in Strasbourg. Torey Lindsey and Justin Nychuk both scored twice in the game to lead the way for the Monarchs. Braeden Raiwet and Jake Latimer also scored for Lumsden. Tyson Orban scored for Strasbourg. Kurtis Sollosy picked up the win in net for the Monarchs stopping 25 shots. Dallin Sorenson stopped 36 shots in the Strasbourg net. Each team had three minors and the Monarchs had one misconduct. The Monarchs moved to 5-1-0 with the win.

Bulldogs win fourth in a row... The Bethune Bulldogs defeated the Southey Marlins 6-4 on Saturday evening in Bethune. Drew George scored four times in this game including twice in the first period to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead going into the second period. Joel Kot scored the other Bulldog goal in the first period. Cody Straker scored for the Marlins in the first period. Early in the second period George would score his third goal and Coltyn Sanderson would score to give the Bulldogs a 5-1 lead. Riley Probst with a power play goal and goals by Taylor Wilton and Brendan Bentz got Southey to within one goal going into the third period. Drew George would score his fourth goal with a minute and a half left in the game to secure the win for the Bulldogs. Ryan Seibel picked up the win in the Bethune net and Landin Moldenhauer was in net for the Marlins. The Bulldogs had one minor penalty and the Marlins had two. The Bulldogs maintained second place in the HHL with a 4-1-0 record.

Comeback win for Cupar Canucks... The Cupar Canucks scored twice in the third period and defeated the Raymore Rockets 3-2 on Friday evening in Raymore. There was no scoring in the first period and the Rockets would open up the scoring midway through the second period on a goal from Michael Jordan. Raymore took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Tyler Bell before a power play goal from Dallas Michlik made the score 2-1 going into the third period. Matthew Boha would score a power play goal with just over seven minutes left in the third period and then with less than two minutes left in the period Godric Tham would pot the winner and the Canucks comeback was complete. Colby Miller would stop 38 shots to pick up the win in the Cupar net. Riley Focht-Gabriel would stop 22 shots in the Raymore net. The Rockets had six minor penalties and the Canucks had five minor penalties. With the win the Canucks stayed in third place with a 3-2-1 record.

Kyle Johnson from the Monarchs has the lead in the scoring race with 4 goals and 11 assists for 15 points in six games. Teammate Torey Lindsey is alone in second place with 8 goals and 6 assists. Drew George from Bethune is next with 8 goals and 5 assists. Brayden Frank from Cupar is tied with George and has 7 goals and 6 assists. Carter Smith from the Bulldogs rounds out the top five with 12 points. George and Lindsey lead the league with 8 goals each. Johnson leads the league with 11 assists. Greg Ferguson from the Maroons leads all scorers with 3 power play goals. Tyler Penny from the Monarchs and Coltyn Sanderson from the Bulldogs lead all scorers with two game winning goals each. Ryan Holfeld from the Bulldogs leads all goalies with a 2.25 GAA Kurtis Sollosy from the Monarchs is next with a 3.33 GAA and Ryan Seibel from the Bulldogs is next with a 4.00 GAA.

The top power play unit in the league are the Bethune Bulldogs with a 31.3% success rate. The Lumsden Monarchs are next with a 30% success rate and the Cupar Canucks are next at 25%. The top penalty killing unit belongs to the Lumsden Monarchs at 91.7%. The Cupar Canucks are next at 80.6% and the Raymore Rockets are next at 80%. Home teams are 8-7-1 so far this year and away teams are 8-8-0. The least penalized team in the league are the Raymore Rockets who average 8.3 minutes per game. The most penalized team in the league are the Southey Marlins with an average of 18.75 minutes per game.

On Tuesday evening the Cupar Canucks (3-2-1) are in Southey to play the Marlins (1-3-0) at 8 p.m. On Wednesday evening the Strasbourg Maroons (1-4-0) are in Bethune to play the Bulldogs (4-1-0) at 8:30 p.m. On Friday evening the Southey Marlins are in Lumsden to play the Monarchs (5-1-0) and Strasbourg is in Raymore to play the Rockets (2-4-0). On Saturday evening Lumsden is at Cupar and Raymore is at Southey. Both games start at 8:00 p.m.
