QVHHL Update - January 31st, 2022

Who is hot and who is not?...How about the Southey Marlins who lead the league in one point games with eight and are now starting to win some of those games with a four game winning streak on the go. How about the Milestone Flyers now in first place on a three game win streak. The Balcarres Broncs have moved into a second place tie with the Spitfires having won four of their last five games. On the other side of the spectrum the Lumsden Monarchs have lost four of their last five games and the Grenfell Spitfires lost three straight in the last week.

QVHHL Update - January 24th

First off...a big "Thank you" to Access Now and Monday Nooner for being in Lumsden on Sunday. The Balcarres/Lumsden game will be broadcast next Sunday at 7 p,m, I believe and should be available on the Access App. We will confirm that and have it up on Twitter. We appreciate the support and it was great to put a face to the names! The game played Sunday afternoon saw the Balcarres Broncs win the season rubber match 6-2 over the Monarchs. An early power play goal from Cody Ellingson put the Broncs up 1-0. Sam Aulie would then score for the Monarchs to tie the game up.

We are about 2/3 of the way through the regular season. Provincials are about to start and we are just a few weeks away from playoffs...

QVHHL Update - January 10th, 2022

Welcome to 2022. We have had a few games postponed in the last few weeks. These games have been postponed either for weather or as safety precautions. We are doing the best we can and the league has made it very clear to the teams that if there is any concern for their safety then games will be postponed.

QVHHL Update December 20th, 2021

Two games on Friday evening and three games on Saturday were played this past weekend. In Grenfell the Spitfires got a goal from Tyler Krauser in the first period and then Sanfred King scored early in the second period to take a 2-0 lead. Milestone would then score with a goal from Shelby Gray. The Spitfires would score immediately after that when Lane Harbor scored. That would be all the Spitfires needed as Harbor would complete the natural hat trick with another goal in the second and a power play goal in the third.

QVHHL Update - December 13th, 2021

Welll...this is the first weekend we had so many games that were decided early. It gets this way close to Christmas for a variety of reasons with most common reason being smaller rosrers for games. Sometimes that works and sometimes the matchups just don't. Other than two games the penalty count was way down in the other three true to the Christmas spirit...perhaps.The one game we had this weekend that was close was in Lumsden on Friday evening. Andrew Perrault scored just 22 seconds into the game to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.

QVHHL Update December 6th, 2021

Another weekend of hockey with five games played and we saw all of these games close....with three of them one goal victories. On Friday evening the Grenfell Spitfires scored twice early in the third period and took a two goal lead and held on for a 5-4 victory over the Odessa/Vibank Bruins. Jayden Issac, Mark Schneider, Lane Harbor on the power play, Kale Haylock on the power play and Sanford King with what would be the game winning goal scored for Grenfell. Allen Kilback had four assists for the Spitfires.

QVHHL Update - November 29th, 2021

We had two games Friday evening...at home the Odessa/Vibank Bruins scored once in the first period, three times in the second period and then one more time in the third period to take a 5-0 lead on Lumsden before the Monarchs scored the last three goals of the third period and made the final 5-3 Bruins. Logan Herchak, Troy Murray, Linden Lang, Tyler King and Marshall Wilton with a power play goal scored for the Bruins. The Monarchs got power play goals from Dale Spelchen, Andrew Perrault plus a goal from Kevin Dufour.

QVHHL Update - November 22nd, 2021

We have completed two weekends of play...this past Friday evening there was one game on the slate. The Grenfell Spitfires scored twice in the first period, a power play goal from Sanford King and a goal from Allen Kilback and held on for a 3-1 victory over Odessa/Vibank Bruins. Sanfred would score his second goal of the evening in the second period and the Bruins would score late in the third period on a goal from Logan Herchak to nullify the shutout. Mitch Kilgore picked up the win in the Grenfell net and Shane Bloomquist was in net for Odessa/Vibank.
