The 2016-17 season began Friday evening in Lumsden. We had full rosters and we had a very entertaining game to begin the season. There was no scoring in the first ten minutes and then Cupar got into a little penalty trouble and the Monarchs scored three power play goals. Liam Brennan scored twice and Torrey Lindsey scored the other goal. Lumsden led 3-0 after one period and outshot the Canucks 15-5 in the first period. In the second period the play got a little tighter and there were few shots in the first 10 minutes.
