QVHL and HHL complete full merge
Submitted by Gerry on Wed, 10/12/2022 - 08:29
2022-23 will see the official merge of the Highway Hockey League and the Qu'Appelle Valley Hockey League. Last season we continued to operate separately despite having a full interlock schedule. It only makes sense with the cost of trying to run a league and the fact that in the HHL case there are still two teams on leave. There will be one website and that will be www.qvhhl,ca
The HHL has a history that dates back to 1965. We will have all of the information from this site stored. Our history of awards for players and teams is very important imformation to have available. I'm hopeful that there will be a link available to this information. I will confirm the date this site will be closed but would expect sometime this month. I will keep the Twitter account open and hopefully will continue to update everyone on senior hockey news and scores.
I would like to thank everyone I have had the pleasure to work with over the last 30 years I have been involved, first with the Monarchs and the then the last 20+ years as President of the league. Barry Herman has handled our statistics, finances and most importantly rules interpretations during my tenure and I can't thank him enough.
Change may not always be easy but sometimes a little direction change will get things back to where they ought to be. I know the league will be strong and there is a possibility of growth as teams on leave may come back in the future.
Stay well and please get out and support senior hockey!
Thank you,
Gerry
