Provincials Update...The Souithey Marlins defeated the Lumsden Monarchs 3-2 on Sunday evening and won this Provincial 'A' series 2 games to 1. Good game and a good turnout on a cold night. The Monarchs had won the first game of this series 6-3 in Lumsden and the Marlins tied the series Saturday evening in Southey with a 6-3 win. The Marlins now face the Drake Canucks with an opportunity to go to the Provincial final. The Canucks defeated the Milestone Flyers 8-4 in Drake on Sunday to win that series 2 games to 1. The Flyers forced a game 3 with an 8-3 victory in Drake on Friday evening in Drake. Southey is the third team from our league that the Canucks will have faced in Provincials this year. Game one of this series will be in Southey on Friday, March 4th in Southey at 8:00 p.m. In Provincial 'B' play the Grenfell Spitfires will face the O/V Bruins in Grenfell on Thursday evening in game 1 of their best of 3 series. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday evening in Odessa.
League Playoffs Update...The O/V Bruins defeated the Grenfell Spitfires 5-4 in double overtime on Saturday evening and then defeated the Spitfires 5-3 on Monday evening at home to win this first round playoff series. The Lumsden Monarchs won game one of their playoff series with the Southey Marlins on Sunday evening with a 4-3 victory in Lumsden. Game 2 of this series is in Southey this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. The Milestone Flyers will be in Bethune on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. to play the Bulldogs in game 1 of their playoff series.
