Monarchs and Rockets each win first two games of semi-final series...The Lumsden Monarchs defeated the Bethune Bulldogs 10-4 at home and then defeated the Bulldogs 6-2 in Bethune on Tuesday evening to take a 2-0 lead in the best of five semi-final. Game three is in Lumsden on Thursday evening. The Raymore Rockets defeated the Southey Marlins 7-6 in overtime in Raymore and then defeated the Marlins 7-2 in Southey last Wednesday evening to take a 2-0 lead in their series. Game three is Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Raymore.
In Provincial play the Raymore versus Drake series certainly lived up to expectations. Game one was in Raymore and the Canucks defeated the Rcokets 5-4. The next game was in Drake and the Rockets would win 5-4 in double overtime. Game three was played in Raymore last Friday evening and the Canucks won the series with a 6-3 victory over the Rockets. The Southey Marlins went three games with the Milestone Flyers. They won game one in Milestone 7-5. In game two in Southey the Flyers won 3-1 and this past Monday evening the Marlins defeated the Flyers 2-1 in Milestone to win the series. As with the Raymore/Drake series all games were won by the visiting team. The Marlins now play the Balgonie Bison in Provincial 'A' Round Two with game one in Balgonie on Friday evening at 8:30. The Lumsden Monarchs started their second round series with the Cabri Bulldogs last Sunday evening. With their biggest crowd of the year on hand the Monarchs did not disappoint their faithful coming out with a 5-3 victory. Game two of this series is in Cabri Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.
League awards will be announced next week.
