Four games this past weekend....on Friday evening in Cupar, the Bethune Bulldogs scored twice in the first period and twice in the second period and held on for a 4-3 victory over the Cupar Canucks. Derek Fuchs scored the first two goals, Lucas Ulmer scored a power play goal and Mike Reich scored the game winning goal. Donovan Chow, Elliot Hubick and Brett Boha with a power play goal scored for Cupar. Ryan Holfeld with 34 saves picked up the win in net for Bethune. Drew Geber stopped 24 shots in the Cupar net. Bethune had ten minor penalties and Cupar had seven. Each team had one misconduct. In Raymore the Rockets defeated the Southey Marlins 4-2. Dillon Schwartzenberger, Tyrell Shulko and Josh Jordan with two goals scored for the Rockets. Taylor Wilton and Brett Mohr scored for Southey. Dean Brothen picked up the win in the Raymore net and David Perkin was in net for the Canucks. Raymore had one minor penalty and Cupar had three.
On Saturday evening, the Lumsden Monarchs hosted the Strasbourg Maroons in their annual Wall of Fame game. The 1978 Provincial 'C' and the 1998 Provincial 'B' teams were inducted onto the wall. The Monarchs fired 70 shots at the Strasbourg goalies and won 11-1. Chris Whitteron led the way for the Monarchs with a hat trick, including a power play goal. Kyle Johnson scored twice for the Monarchs. Also scoring for the Monarchs were Andrew Perrault, Braeden Adamyk, Mason Haus, Torey Lindsey, Brady Aulie and Liam Brennan with a power play goal. Mike Arnold scored the lone Strasbourg goal. Will Hood picked up his fifth win of the year in the Lumsden net stopping 17 shots. Dallin Sorenson stopped 44 shots and Rhett Freistadt stopped 15 shots in the Strasbourg net. Each team had two minor penalties. In Raymore, Tyrell Shulko scored four times, including the game winning goal in the third period as the Rockets defeated Cupar 6-4. Dillon Schwartzenberger and Michael Jordan also scored for the Rockets. Dallas Michlik, Cody Hall, Donovan Chow and Godric Tham with a power play goal scored for the Canucks. Raymore had three minor penalties and Cupar had one.
Tyrell Shulko has taken over the scoring lead with a league leading 12 goals and 9 assists for 21 points. Lucas Ulmer from the Bulldogs with 20 points is second. Rounding out the top five are Mike Reich from Bethune, Kyle Johnson from Lumsden and Josh Jordan from Raymore. Josh Jordan leads all scorers with 4 power play goals and Tyrell Shulko leads all scorers with 3 game winning goals. Tanner Kehler still leads all goalies with a 1.92 GAA. Will Hood from Lumsden leads all goalies with 5 wins and a 2.00 GAA. The Bethune Bulldogs continue to lead all teams on the power play with a 41.7% success rate. They are followed by Raymore at 30% and Lumsden at 27.8%. The Lumsden Monarchs are the top penalty killing team at 87%. They are followed by Raymore at 81.8% and Bethune at 80.6%. The Strasbourg Maroons are the least penalized team averaging 7.67 minutes per game. The Bethune Bulldogs are the most penalized team averaging 17.3 minutes per game.
This weekend we have three games on Friday evening. The Bethune Bulldogs (4-2-1) are in Lumsden to play the Monarchs (7-0-0), The Raymore Rockets (5-2-1) are in Southey to play the Marlins (2-4-0) and the Cupar Canucks (2-4-0) are in Strasbourg to play the Maroons (0-7-0). On Saturday evening Lumsden is in Cupar and Strasbourg is in Bethune. The following Tuesday Cupar is in Bethune. This game was originally scheduled for Wednesday and is now on Tuesday.
