Bulldogs Back in first place....The Bethune Bulldogs defeated the Raymore Rockets 8-2 last Tuesday evening in Raymore and then defeated the Southey Marlins 8-2 on Friday evening to take their record to 10-1-1 for 21 points. Against Raymore, Coltyn Sanderson led the way with a hat trick. Carter Smith, Joel Kot, Derek Fuchs and Drew George also scored for the Bulldogs. Josh Jordan and Cody Mapes scored for Raymore. Ryan Holfeld picked up the win in net for the Bulldogs and Riley Focht-Gabriel was in net for the Rockets. Bethune had 4 minor penalties and Raymore had two. On Friday evening, The Bulldogs defeated the Southey Marlins 8-2 in Southey. Mike Reich scored twice including his league leading third game winning goal and had two assists to lead the Bulldogs. Coltyn Sanderson, Mitch Boucher, Matt Delahey (ppg), Drew George, Tyler Riche and Russ Nielson also scored for the Bulldogs. Evan Mohr scored both of the Marlin goals. Ryan Seibel picked up the win in net for the Bulldogs.
Cupar Canucks move into second place…Meanwhile the Cupar Canucks defeated the Lumsden Monarchs 5-1 on Friday evening and 9-5 on Saturday evening to move into second place with a 9-4-1 record. The Monarchs fell to third place with a 9-5-0 record. There are some problems for the Monarchs in net as both their goalies are injured but it was the goalie at the other end of the ice that was the difference in this series of games. Tanner Kehler stopped 47 of 48 shots on Friday evening to secure the win for the Canucks. Will Hood left in the second period with the score tied 1-1 and with Kurt Sollosy injured Lumsden put Jake Latimer in net and give him all the credit in the world for stepping, er skating, into the situation. He did just fine. Cody Hall and scored twice for Cupar and Kyle Hall each scored twice and Godric Tham would complete the scoring for the Canucks. Brady Aulie scored for the Monarchs. On Saturday evening in Cupar, Tanner Kehler made 49 saves and the Canucks would win 9-5. Lumsden started third goalie Curtis Koskie in his first senior game. Brett Boha, Godric Tham, Donovan Chow, Kyle Hall with two goals, Travis Orr, Landon Fahlman, Mathew Scott and Brayden Frank scored for the Canucks. League leading scorer Kyle Johnson scored four times for the Monarchs. Braeden Adamyk also scored for Lumsden. Cupar had five minor penalties and Lumsden had four.
Marlins defeat Maroons in shootout…The Southey Marlins defeated the Strasbourg Maroons 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday evening. Travis Mohr scored twice, including the goal that tied the ga Cupar is next with a me 3-3 shorthanded. Evan Mohr also scored and Drew Wilde scored the shootout winner. Tanner Exner scored twice for the Maroons and Tyson Orban also scored. Ryan Senft picked up the win in the Marlins net and picking up the SO point for the Maroons in their net was Rhett Freistadt. Southey had eight minor penalties and Strasbourg had five.
Kyle Johnson from the Lumsden Monarchs continues to lead the scoring race with 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points. Kyle Hall from Cupar is next with 29 points. In third with 28 points is Coltyn Sanderson from Bethune, Brayden Frank from Cupar is in fourth with 27 points tied with Carter Smith from Bethune. Ryan Holfeld leads all goalies with a 2.40 GAA along with eight wins and a shutout. Tanner Kehler from Cupar is next with a 3.10 GAA and seven wins. Kurtis Sollosy is next with a 3.58 GAA and Rhett Freistadt from Strasbourg is fourth with a 4.23 GAA.
Provincial draws are up and you can locate these on the SHA site. We will have the series times up on our Provincial page… first round series need to be done by February 19th. In Provincial ‘A’ it is HHL against QVHL as Lumsden plays Milestone, Cupar lays Grenfell and Southey plays Balgonie. Raymore plays Wawota in Provincial ‘C’ and Strasbourg plays Central Butte in Provincial ‘D’. Bethune is playing AAA and has until March 26th to finish a series with Rosetown. The Allan Cup runs from April 9th to April 14th in Rosetown.
