President’s Update – October 27th, 2014
The 49th Highway Hockey League season begins on Saturday, November 8th with two games. The Lumsden Monarchs will be in Bethune and the Wynyard Monarchs will be in Cupar at 8:00 p.m.
Our League will have seven teams this year. The Southey Marlins have applied for and been approved a one year leave of absence. We will play eighteen games during the regular season with each team playing each other three times. The top team will get a bye into the semi-finals while the other six teams will play in a best of three series. Semi-Finals and the Final will be five game series.
We are updating some things on our website and ask for your patience. We are experimenting with a mobile look that is now being used when you type in our site on your handheld devices and we will have the option for full site option. We are touching up some coloring issues, hopefully making it easier for you to read. We are updating our player archives statistics and will be attempting to make it easier for you to view. Contact updates and expansion of information in our Awards page will also be updated.
Pocket schedules will be available the first weekend of the season. We will attempt to give you an update on each team’s rosters prior to the start of the season. There are exhibition games being played in the next two weeks and I will post them when I receive notification.
Thank you for your interest and we all look forward to another great year of senior hockey.
Gerry Tomkins
