League Update… The Lumsden Monarchs defeated the Raymore Rockets last Monday evening 8-5 and forced a game five in Lumsden on Tuesday evening. The first four games of this series saw 59 goals scored but in game five the goalies and the defence said that was enough and a defence oriented hockey game saw the Rockets punch their ticket into League final by defeating the Monarchs 3-1. Cody Mapes scored on the power play in the first period and it was 1-0 Rockets after one period. In the second period the Rockets extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Tanner Linnen. Lumsden got a goal from Brady Aulie just two minutes later and the score was 2-1. With just over a minute left in the period Matthew Kinnunen would score shorthanded and it was 3-1 going into the third period. There was no scoring in the third and the Rockets have moved on to play the Bethune Bulldogs in the Robert Schultz Cup final. Lumsden was 0 for 5 on the power play and Raymore was 1 for 4. Raymore outshot the Monarchs for the first time in the series 34-31. Dean Brothen picked up the win in net for the Rockets and Will Hood was in net for the Monarchs.
