The Raymore Rockets continue to roll picking up their seventh straight win with a 12-1 victory over the Strasbourg Maroons on Friday evening. Ryley Storzuk led the way with a hat trick. Tyrell Shulko and Josh Jordan both scored twice. Cory Kosloski, Damien Bentz, Jeff Hubic, Tyler Bell and Michael Jordan with the only power play goal of the game scored the rest of the Raymore goals. Mike Arnold scored the lone goal for the Maroons. Dean Brothen picked up his third win of the year in the Raymore net. Therien Ballantine was in net for the Maroons. Strasbourg had three minor penalties and Raymore had two. Also on Friday evening the Southey Marlins defeated the Lumsden Monarchs 4-1 in Southey. Colby Brandt and Lindsay Thompson scored in the second period to get the Marlins in front and they led the rest of the way. Brody Luhning would score on the power play to get the Monarchs to within one goal after two periods. Brandt would get his second goal of the evening on the power play and Dylan Mohr would score into the empty net to make the final 4-1. Shaun Fleming and Landin Moldenhauer both spent time in the net for the Marlins. DAvid Perkin was in net for the Monarchs. Lumsden was assessed five minor penalties and Southey had four.
On Saturday evening the Southey Marlins were in Bethune to meet the Bulldogs. Lucas Ulmer and Jacob Ulmer with a power play goal gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead after one period. Brett Mennear would score early in the second period to get the Bulldogs up 3-0. The Marlins would respond with two goals to get within one. Eric Kuzek and Colby Brandt scored. In the third the Bulldogs would put the game away with a goal from Jesse Williamson to make the final 4-2 Bulldogs. Ryan Holfeld picked up the win in the Bethune net stopping 27 shots. Landon Molden hauer stopped 39 shots in the Southey net. Each team had four minor penalties.
This weekend we have two games on Friday and two games on Saturday. The Bethune Bulldogs (3-4-0) are in Southey to play the Marlins (3-4-0) at 8 p.m. In :Lumsden the Monarchs (3-2-1) host the Strasbourg Maroons (0-5-0) at 8:30 p.m.. On Saturday evening the Maroons are in Bethune to play the Bulldogs and the Raymore Rockets (7-0-0) are in Lumsden to play the Monarchs.
Damien Bentz from the Rockets leads the scoring race with 11 goals and 8 assists. Eight of the top ten scoring leaders are from the Rockets. Dean Brothen from the Rockets leads all goalies with a 1.00 GAA. Kevin Orthner from the Rockets leads all goalies with four wins. Ryan Holfeld from the Bulldogs leads all goalies with 245 minutes played. Raymore leads all teams scoring on 39.1% of their power plays. They also lead all teams with a 94.4% penalty kill success rate.
