President's Update - November 28th

Lumsden Monarchs move to 6-0-0 with 6-2 victory over Marlins...On Tuesday evening the Lumsden Monarchs won their sixth game of the year with a 6-2 victory over Southey. Liam Brennan scored twice in the first period to give the Monarchs a 2-0 lead going into the second period. In the second period Southey got goals from Pat Thompson-Gale and Riley Mohr and Lumsden added a goal from Tyler Penny. Leading by one in the third period, Brody Luhning, Kyle Johnson and Tyler Penny would score to secure the win. Will Hood picked up the win in the Lumsden net stopping 20 shots. David Perkin played very well in the Southey net and kept the Marlins in striking range with 49 saves. I have been in the box for over twenty years and this was the first game I recall that had no penalties called. We couldn't even think of a time in the game when one was missed....The Monarchs defeated the Cupar Canucks 10-3 on Friday evening and then were in Bethune on Saturday evening and defeated the Bulldogs 4-2. In the last three games the Monarchs have outshot their opponents 163 - 69 and have scored 20 goals.

The Raymore Rockets moved to 3-1-1 with a 4-3 victory over the Strasbourg Maroons on Friday evening in Strasbourg. Tyrell Shulko scored for Raymore and Tyson Orban scored on the power play for the Maroons in the first period. In the second period Tanner Exner scored a shorthanded goal for Strasbourg and just two seconds later Josh Jordan scored a power play goal for the Rockets. Sean Delwo would give the Rockets the lead later in the period and Shulko would get his second for the Rockets and the game was tied 3-3 after two periods. In the third period the only goal scored was the winner from Blaze Bentz. Dean Brothen stopped 22 shots and picked up the win in the Rockets net. Dallin Sorenson stopped 31 shots in the Strasbourg net. Raymore had seven minor penalties and Strasbourg had two.

On Saturday evening the Strasbourg Maroons were in Southey and lost 4-1 to the Marlins. Taylor Wilton scored two power play goals, Trey Lefebrve scored a shorthanded goal and Nolan Souchotte scored an even strength goal for the Marlins. Tyson Orban scored the lone Maroons goal. David Perkin picked up the win in net for the Marlins and Dallin Sorenson was in net for the Maroons. Strasbourg took five minor penalties and Southey took two.

Lucas Ulmer from the Bulldogs leads all scorers with 16 points. Kyle Johnson, last year's HHL Scoring leader, has now moved into second with 13 points and Mike Reich from Bethune is third with 12 points.  Tyrell Shulko from the Rockets with 10 points and Russ Nielson from the Bulldogs with 9 points round out the top five. Tyrell Shulko leads all scorers with three power play goals. Trey Lefebrve from Southey leads with two short handed goals and Braden Adamyk from Lumsden leads all scorers with two game winning goals.

Tanner Kehler from Cupar leads all goalies with a 1.92 GAA. He is followed by Ryan Seibel from Bethune and Travis Bosch from Lumsden with a 2.00 GAA. Will Hood from Lumsden now leads all goalies with a 4-0-0 record. Lumsden leads the team goaltending race.

Bethune Bulldogs have the top power play with a 46.7% success rate. They are followed by Raymore at 28.6% and Southey at 23.5%. The top penalty killing team are the Raymore Rockets with a 87.5% success rate. They are followed by Lumsden at 85.7% and Bethune at 81.3%.

This weekend there are five games on the schedule. On Friay evening the Southey Marlins (2-4-0) are in Raymore to play the Rockets (3-1-1) and the Bethune Bulldogs (2-2-1) are in Cupar to play the Canucks (2-2-0). On Saturday evening the Bethune Bulldogs are in Southey, Cupar is in Raymore and the Lumsden Monarchs are hosting their annual Wall of Fame game against the Strasbourg Maroons. This year the Monarchs are inducting two teams, the first time they have done this. The 1978 and 1998 Provincial Champion teams are being inducted. All games start at 8 p.m.
